I found this quote this be interesting because it shows that the disability is not the problem its the people around that have the problem with it. this is true because people see a person with a disability and they judge them immediately. they don't think about the struggle and the courage it takes for them to actual go out and be a part of something. when their is a young child with a disability in school the other students whom are in the school may judge them at times because they don't know that its not okay. when they are out and see other adults acting uncomfortable or not acknowledging them it shows that its okay for children to act like this when its not. this is a big problem with the world today that needs to be fixed.
“Now we know that people with disabilities can learn and have a full, rich life. The challenge is to erase negative attitudes about people with developmental disabilities, get rid of the stereotypes and break the barriers for people with disabilities”
I chose this quote because it is very true. the problem with the world today is having people judge others whom have a disability. people who have a disability are not bad people and they are not going to hurt you. they are people just like us but they have to work a little or sometimes a lot harder than everyone else. instead of judging them people should be acknowledging their courage and strength. Also giving them a hand to make their life just a little bit easier that day. People should be trying to brake the stereotypes.
"So I guess what I'm arguing is that if you did pick Lee out, you wouldn't be seeing Lee. It's not Lee you're picking out. It's your stereotype, your mindset."
This quote goes along with the other two because it still talks about how you shouldn't stereotype people. just because they have a disability doesn't give anyone the right to pick on them or call them out etc. It not only makes you look foolish it hurts their feelings because they are people too.
